In an ideal scenario, you would invest some of your time to personally make high-value, all-natural, high-quality dog treats for your pooch.
Treats that would not only cater to his needs but also get his tail-wagging, some of which I shared in “High-Value Dog Treats: What Type of Reward to Give Your Dog“.
But “treating” your dog isn’t just all about food. Here are a couple of different ways to look at it:
- A mini-adventure for your dog.
- Something to look forward to.
- An engaging and mentally stimulating activity (or thing).
Most importantly, this should be rewarding for both you and your dog, and as a dog parent, you clearly want this.
There’s just one thing that 99% of the modern-day household struggle with – time.

Well, I too struggled with and was wondering the same. So I turned to do what I do best: seek until I find, AKA research!
Truth be told, it doesn’t take much to encounter a flurry of options at just the click of a button. Big companies are heavily invested in making sure their products get seen and purchased.
But I’d been down this road many times and I knew something healthy that catered specifically to my canine friend wasn’t going to be found by going after a general-purpose, off-the-shelf product.
And if that’s the case, where do I turn to, especially given my busy schedule (and without breaking the bank of course)?

It was with this question and enthusiasm that I found BarkBox, a company that aligned with what I was after! Here’s part of their mission statement:

Now that I could immediately resonate with and a cause that struck a chord with my heart. Sadly, thousands of dogs are placed into rescue centres every year, and many of them don’t ever leave.
So, what is BarkBox?
BarkBox is a monthly subscription service providing treats and toys for your furry friend. Dog products made by dog people, for dogs and their people. Every month you get a themed collection with at least 2 innovative toys, 2 all-natural bags of treats, and a chew, curated from each month’s unique themed collection.
For humans, BarkBox is a monthly delivery of high-quality toys, treats, and chews. For dogs, BarkBox is an amazing, tail-wagging, belly-rubbing, best-ever-birthday-party joy explosion, every single month!
I was excited about this as it seemed to fit the bill (and then some more!), but I also had questions I hoped could be answered (see below).

What Comes in a Box?
Each monthly box contains a combo of treats, toys, and chews. The quantity depends on the size of the box.
Their classic box, without any additions or customizations, contains 2 high-quality toys, 2 full-size bags of treats, and a chew toy each month.
What Are the Sizes?
Their treat and toy boxes are for all life stages, from puppyhood to seniors.
- Small. For pups who are 20 pounds or less
- Medium. For pups who are 20 to 50 pounds
- Large. For pups who are over 50 pounds
Where Are the Items Made?
They choose only high-quality vendors using top ingredients in their treats, and their NYC team designs original, pup-approved toys every month.
All treats are made in the USA and Canada, and chews are made in the USA, Canada, South America, Australia and New Zealand.
BarkBox standards:
- Minimal processing.
- Wheat, soy, corn, and filler-free whenever possible.
- Organic whenever possible.
- And they are going for limited, if not single, ingredient products.
What Is the Pricing?
BarkBox plans start at $21 per month, and our Super Chewer BarkBox (for dogs who need a challenge) starts at $39. The longer you subscribe for the cheaper it gets.
Shipping is completely free for all subscriptions inside the contiguous US – Puerto Rico, Alaska, Hawaii, and Canada have a shipping fee of $8 per shipment.
Is this Available in Other Countries?
